The concept is quite simple: Fashion accessory, the shoe is a symbol of the human condition: from the barefoot to the high top. It is the social status that takes marquis position. More than ever, in today`s global consumer based culture the shoe is the interface exhibition of the clan membership of the beholder. The latter, in a fit of identity crisis, customized, stylized and adorned; works in contrast and placards his or her graphical vocabulary.

The precious children of this century are no longer artisans of consumer discontent, they have become the subjects to a marketing leviathan that plays outrageously with human impulses. This generation of the new century, born from the world of lifestyle marketing and image, regurgitates hyper stimulation reinventing its cosmogony, its stories, its heroes, its codes and its mythology.

YUME Gallery has assembled a collective of progressive artists that deconstruct the the “sneaker.” Using a post surrealist aesthetic, the artists extrapolate modern and popular perspective sand provide a daring introspective on the iconic position “sneakers” has taken in contemporary society.

I dont know why Hollywood keeps on remaking and remaking. Especially if the original happens to be the best movie ever shot (only my personal opinion which happens to be shared by Tarantino). Already it is obvious that the story of OLD BOY will be different that the korean original, as that would be too shocking for Hollywood standards.

So I Am Legend co-writer Mark Protosevich is in early talks to pen the remake of “Old Boy,” which will re-unite him with Will Smith. And if that aint enough to get an impossible job done, Steven Spielberg is also attached to the new movie.

DreamWorks secured the remake rights from Mandate Pictures, which also is staying involved in the project. Although the studio was meeting with several high-profile writers to do the adaptation, Smith invited Protosevich to meet with Spielberg on the project.

Mandate acquired the 2003 Korean film co-written and directed by Park Chan-wook from Universal, which picked up the rights in 2004 with Vertigo Entertainment (The Eye, The Grudge). The original film, which like much edgy Asian cinema includes some disturbing material, detailed a man’s mysterious kidnapping, 15-year imprisonment and feverish quest for revenge upon being released.

For the past few months previews and sneak peaks of Play Cloths, the new line from the Clipse, have been making their way around the web. With the official launch of Play Cloths set for November 21, HighSnobiety caught up with Pusha T to discuss the brands mission.

After its recent collaborations with LTD and Hellz Bellz, watch maker NOOKA teamed up with designer and retailer Kidrobot for a limited edition timepiece.  Based on the popular NOOKA Zub model with the signature Zen-H watch face, the NOOKA x Kidrobot - Koolabooration Zub Watch will feature an offset print of the famous “Kid Robot” on the wrist band.  With only 1000 units available, the watch is now available at Gorilli, INSTORE ONLY.

Good to know I am not the only one struck by the visual inbalance that is taking over big metropoles around the globe. Like beggars in front of a Louis Vuitton store. Even more struck when the inbalance is projected into one image creating a shocking balance. Like this sculpture by artist Beejoir.

Ato Matsumoto’s take on a sneaker has produced again a stunning, functional and beautifully styled piece of footwear that has yet to make it out of Japan until now. Oki-Ni has an exclusive distribution deal on the Ato Cow Hide Boot, recently spotted on the feet of Hip Hop superstar Kanye West and the obvious inspiration behind the Air Yeezy. Matching the boots, they also offer a Ato Sandal, which is just as different and innovative as the sneaker.

Mischien wel de meest onkrijgbare schoen op aarde, de Ato Matsumoto Cow Hide Boot, is weer te bestellen via Oki-Ni in nieuwe varianten.
